Welcome to my blog. I will tell you about my quilting hobby and my family. How nice of you to take a look here. I would like it very much if you leave a comment. Forgive me the mistakes I will undoubtedly make by translating the Dutch text in English.
Sorry, I have stopped translating the Dutch text.

Knippen en plakken - Cut and paste

Kijk maar, de 2 All Cooped Up blokken!

A few days ago, I finished the Aunt Millie block but I could not take a good picture of it earlier. Meanwhile I had a nice cut and paste job. Look, my two blocks of All Cooped Up! I hope I can start quilting them tomorrow.

Lang leve het World Wide Web!

Yes, work is being done here at home. Our two daughters are in their final year and this week is testweek at school.  They sit up late at night to learn. DD2 had a biology test today and she has found some good and nice explanations of difficult topics. Long live the World Wide Web!

Besides, in November I mentioned that DD2 and I visited some informative meetings at different schools and that she had thought about going abroad for one year. Well, the decision is made, next school year she is going to follow one year high school in Australia! But first she has to pass her exams of course.
Another reason to be happy with the Internet, which will enable us to keep in touch when she is Down Under.

Last week I started working again on the Aunt Millie's Garden Quilt. I couldn't work very fast because I was seeing cross-eyed by the headache. Fortunately, that is all over now and the block is almost ready.

Woensdagochtend was weer Lekprikkersochtend.

Wednesday we had the monthly Lekprikkermeeting. A few Lekprikker-ladies brought some lovely and nice gifts for us. A beautiful story about snowflakes by Toon Hermans with a beautiful snow crystal; a pattern of an owl and a pattern of a patchworkball.

The workshop this morning was quite difficult.  Making a sort of honeycomb of a strip of fabric. With that you could make for example a flower. To give an example Els showed us her own project.

It doesn't look complicated at all don't you think ;-) ?

Wil was allowed to bring an antique American quilt from a friend to be able to show this quilt to us. This was the hit of the morning, a whole lot of yo-yo's.

And these ladies, made by Elly, look very cute too.

Fijn weekend!

Now I go on working on my Aunt Millie flowers. Have a nice weekend!

2011 !

Yes I know, it is a little bit late, but I still want to wish you all a very good and healthy 2011. Meanwhile all the snow has rained away, the Christmas stuff is back to the attic and the house is tidy again. That is what we always do in the days between Christmas and New Year; clearing up the house to start the new year with a nice cleared house. Every year we have good intentions te keep the house tidy, but you guessed it, we don't succeed in doing that.
Hubby went to Ikea (I had to work and could not join him) and bought two bookcases. The books tumbled out of the bookcases downstairs, now we have moved a lot of our books to the new bookcases upstairs. Now my quiltingbooks are in a nice row, nearby my sewing table. Hubby's Bird Encyclopedia (vintage) is within reach. Look what a beautiful drawings!

Under my sewing table, I have a number of containers with quilt fabrics collected for different projects. I have let it all go through my hands and I made a list of the quilts I am working on and of the quilts I still want to make (of which I already have fabrics and patterns).  It's not that I must make them immediately, but I like to have my ongoing projects well organised.

Binnenkort gaan we samen dubbelen....

Quilt with rose fabrics for DD1: the top, batting and backing are here. We are going to baste soon...

Aunt Millies Garden Quilt: I started again this week.

Dresden Plate quilt: I still have to buy more fabrics to be able to make the borders.

Sampler quilt: the quilt I made during my first quilting course in 2006. I have already quilted a part of the quilt, why did I leave it for so long?

Bom of Esther Aliu. Here I got stuck because I did not know how to applique the various blocks. The blocks were not like I wanted them to be. I'm not sure wether I will still continue making this quilt.

Strippy Vine - Material Obsession

Quilt of Provencal fabrics:  fabrics collected during holidays in France, I want to use a pattern from Material Obsession.

Bag, designed by Pink&Barbara: I bought beautiful fabrics. Unfortunately, I think the drawn patterns are not correct. Hopefully I am wrong and everything will fit after all.

All Cooped Up: The 2 packages I bought at McKenna Ryan last year during the OEQC. These have to be finished before Easter!

One Block Wonder Quilt

Prettig weekend!

Ooh, I thought my list was completed but I still have 2 more! That is what happens when you put new purchases on top of your previous ones. A package of materials for a 'mermaid' quilt and a package of materials to make 't Vrolijke Nootje'. So I have plenty to do for a long time, I won't get bored....
Have a nice weekend!
