Welcome to my blog. I will tell you about my quilting hobby and my family. How nice of you to take a look here. I would like it very much if you leave a comment. Forgive me the mistakes I will undoubtedly make by translating the Dutch text in English.
Sorry, I have stopped translating the Dutch text.

Wishquilt

Last week Annelies mailed me that she had seen  a picture of my Wishquilt in Homespun Magazine. A long time ago, I sent an email with a picture to Homespun Magazine but I never heard from them. Now it appears that my email and picture are placed in Homespun 11.4. Great fun! Thanks for the tip Annelies! More photos of my Wishquilt can be seen in the album in the left column .

Last Sunday I made these pictures in the garden. For the first time since we have planted a grape , there are many grapebunches in. The grapes were not ripe yet , but the birds here ate at least half of all the grapes off. Now we have draped some nets around the grapes because we want to eat our muscat grapes ourselves!

Jammer.

This year the fig tree has grown so big that we finally can harvest a lot of figs at the same time. But that was Sunday ...In recent days we have had such bad weather, that the fig tree has come completely loose from the wall against which it grew up. If the weather is dry, we will have to prune it back a lot. Pity.
Kijk, vanmiddag regende het zo hard. Het water stroomde door de straat.

Look, this afternoon it rained so hard . The water flowed down the street .

Fortunately, the outlook for Saturday is (a little bit) better. Saturday we have a Blues Festival in Culemborg and then we want to have good weather!

Een nieuw blok. A new block.

Jump!
And again a week has passed by, time flies. Last week Monday DD2 came back from a week sailing in Greece. She and her girlfriend  found on the internet a Dutch couple where you could book a sailing holiday in Greece. To get there, they had to book a plane ticket. They did not want to spend too much money and booked the cheapest flight they could find, from airport Cologne/Bonn to Athens. But they did not notice that Cologne (Köln) is a long way from here, a 2.5 to 3 hours drive. DH and I left at 19.00 to the airport Cologne and at 01.30 am we could crawl into our bed. We were glad that the girls were back, healthy, happy and brown, but we were very tired. The next morning DH en I had to get up early, because we had to go to work. It took us a few days to get over this short night sleep.

To return to the title of this blog post ... This week I have managed to finish making another block of Aunt Millies Garden Quilt. And when you get into that flow, you want to continue, so I have  started to prepare the next block.

prep the next block

Now I am going to sit on the couch with a good book. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. Before the holidays began, I started reading, but then I had to return the book to the library. I discovered that next Thursday is the next meeting of my bookclub.  I hope I have finished reading the book on time!

PS:  I do my best to translate my text in good English. If I make big or strange mistakes, please tell me. I hope to learn!

Ik ben er weer! I'm back!

I am back again. Almost the entire month of July we were on  summer vacation. We always go camping and the packing of all the stuff and the cleaning up afterwards usually requires considerable time and effort. We are already two weeks at home now and it is time to write a new blogpost.

We have spent our vacation on the French island of Corsica, by the French also called " l' ile de beauté " aka the most beautiful island. We already knew that it is a beautiful island, because 7 years ago we also spent our vacation on Corsica. Because we liked it so much, we said to each other "when we are married 25 years, we will go again". And so we did. Luckily our oldest daughter (almost 19)  wanted to go with us on holiday. It is very likely that this was the last summer vacation with the whole family! So it was really in many ways a special holiday for us .

More and more tourists are coming to Corsica, but the beaches are still not crowded.

Just a few more photo's .... I can not choose ..... if you click on the photos , they appear larger.

We were also on a 'black beach', pictured left, that was very special. It was not really black, but the pebbles were dark green-gray. On the national holiday on July 14, we had an excellent view at the fireworks over Propriano from the campsite.

It was very hot almost every day. Therefore I hardly had needle and thread into my hands. I made this , the current craze in quilting blogland, hexagons. These hexagons are 1 inch, I also had templates of 1/2 inches, but they are still in the packing!

When we walked around in the citadel of the city Bastia, we actually came across a quiltshop! They sat outside, working on a quilt in a frame, but unfortunately that is just not visible on the picture.

This will be the last picture.  On the way back we were early in line for the ferry to the mainland. We stood near the front so we could take a good look at how it exactly goes .

And from the hold of the ferry came over 200 cars , motorcycles , campers , caravans and trucks. If you see the pictures, you would not say, but during the boat trip it got heavy weather.  Very exciting...

So far the holiday report.  Now I am going to read all your blogs to see what you all have done.
